Cabinet approves the GHEITI Revised Institutional Framework document
Cabinet has in a letter dated 24 May, 2010 approved the GHEITI Revised Institutional Framework document. This approval gives the GHEITI Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning the mandate to roll-out Ghana EITI to the oil and gas sector.
In line with the above, the Secretariat is taking all the necessary steps to ensure a timely extension of the principles of EITI to the oil and gas sector.
The approval also required an extension of the existing GHEITI National Steering Committee (NSC) from an eleven (11) member to a twenty (20) member Committee.
The addition to the NSC will be represented by:
Ministry of Energy (MoEn)- 2
Ghana National Petroleum Cooperation (GNPC)- 1
Tullow Oil Company - 1
Kosmos Oil Company - 1
CSO relevant to the Oil/Gas - 2
Internal Revenue Service if a dedicated unit for Oil/Gas exist -1
Representative of the District Assembly in the areas of oil find (1) to be rotated among affected districts
As part of the GHEITI work plan, a sensitization workshop on the extension of EITI to the oil and gas sector is planned for the 17th-19th June, 2010.
